3 Beauty Rules To Live By

When it comes to beauty, we can all agree that less is more. Now, I'm by no means an expert in the world of beauty, but I have had my fair share of mishaps and disasters over the years (no photos included!). So, down below are the rules that I am try to stick by, let me know what you think!

1. Moisturise & Prime. Always.
I have awfully dry skin, particularly during these duller seasons. Now, this may not apply so much to other skin times, but I always moisturise. I wake up, apply moisturiser (& lip balm!!) and wait for it to sink in for a few minutes. If I skip this step then I notice it, big time. I'm also a slave to Smashbox primer. I apply this before foundation and my skin feels smooth and my foundation applies so much easier. For those of you who don't prime, I promise you it is worth it! Your base will last so much longer, plus it's a little barrier between your face & make up, for some unknown reason this makes me feel so much better about applying a face full of 'slap'.

2. Maintain your Brows.
Brows literally frame your whole face. I don't know what it is, but having plucked and defined brows makes my face look 1000 times better! It doesn't matter if you wax, thread or pluck them, there's nothing quite like looking at the finished product. Personally, I pluck mine as I hate growing them out for a wax. If you want to know how I define my brows, check out my post on Anastasia Beverly Hills' Dip Brow Pomade. Whether you like yours full and natural, or thin and defined, just keep your brows in tip top condition and you'll feel fabulous.

3. Invest in Quality Brushes.
I cannot say this enough, do not skimp on brushes! When I was a (young) teenager, my mum would buy me expensive brush sets and I never cleaned them, lost half the set and now have nothing to show for it. She never wore make up, but she knew how important quality brushes are for those that do. Whilst it may have backfired back in the day, her words stuck with me & now my brushes are some of my prized possessions. My personal favourite is Real Techniques as they are thick and fabulous, although I love The Body Shop's collections too.

What beauty rules do you follow?

  1. Love these - I used to occasionally prime but never really found any primers I was a big fan of! Maybe I'll have to give smashbox a go. xx

  2. Brushes are so important. I wish I had realized that earlier along the way...

    1. I think this is something most of us are guilty for!

  3. All solid tips! I cannot stress the importance of moisturising, I've always said I'd rather have oily skin that dry, it just looks healthier and you age slower! Sadly my skin is on the dry side too but Smashbox's Hydrating primer is my saving grace!
